Amlodipine

A calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, lowering blood pressure.

Atenolol

A beta-blocker that slows down the heart rate and reduces the force of heart contractions, lowering blood pressure and heart rate.

Amlodipine relaxes blood vessels, reducing peripheral resistance and lowering blood pressure. Atenolol reduces the heart's workload by slowing the heart rate and reducing the force of contractions, further lowering blood pressure. The combination provides a synergistic effect, controlling blood pressure more effectively than either drug alone.

Typically taken once daily, usually in the morning.

Children
