Zinc pyrithione has a broad-spectrum antifungal and antibacterial activity. Its exact mechanism of action is not fully understood, but it is believed to interfere with the growth and metabolism of microorganisms by interfering with the production of essential proteins and enzymes.
Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Apply a small amount of shampoo to wet hair and scalp. Gently massage into a lather and leave for 2-5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
Use the shampoo 2-3 times per week for the first 2 weeks, then reduce to 1-2 times per week or as directed by your doctor.
For tinea versicolor, apply the shampoo to affected areas of the skin for 2-5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Use the shampoo once or twice a week for 2-4 weeks.
