Evogliptin inhibits dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), an enzyme that degrades incretins (GLP-1 and GIP). This leads to increased incretin levels, stimulating insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner and suppressing glucagon secretion. Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, increases insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, and improves glucose uptake by muscles.
